Our catchment in context
The Moggill Creek Catchment covers an area of 57.6 km2 to the west of Brisbane. As such it is less than 5% of the total catchment area of Brisbane but offers much more in the way of a healthy natural environment and biodiversity. It is primarily a rural/residential area with about 70 percent of the land under private ownership.
The Moggill Creek Catchment contains more bushland than any other catchment in Brisbane and its boundary with the D`Aguilar Range in the north and west makes it an important biodiversity corridor to the Brisbane River.
Because catchments intersect to form larger catchments, we have strong linkages to neighbouring catchments such as the Pullen Pullen and Cubberla-Witton Catchments. Our Group is also a member of the Brisbane Catchments Network, a partnership of Catchment and Landcare groups across Brisbane. In a broader context, we are also a member of South-East Queensland Catchments.
